Economic Benefits
Economic Benefits of Our Redevelopment Project
Investing in modern healthcare infrastructure is also an investment in the long-term economic strength of our region.
In addition to improving access to care close to home, this project will create jobs, support local businesses, attract new residents and professionals, and generate millions of dollars in annual economic activity for the community.
A Major Employment Hub for the Region
Once complete, the new campus is anticipated to support more than 500 healthcare and support service jobs, including approximately 200 new positions.
These roles will span clinical care, diagnostics, rehabilitation, administration, facilities, food services, environmental services, and technical support. Stable healthcare employment helps attract and retain families, supports housing demand, and strengthens the regional workforce.
Healthcare organizations are widely recognized as economic anchors in rural and small urban communities due to the stability and diversity of employment they provide.

Supporting Additional Jobs Across the Community

Healthcare employment also creates ripple effects across the economy.
Research shows rural healthcare job multipliers typically range between 1.1 and 1.7 total jobs supported for every direct job created. Using this moderate and widely accepted planning assumption, 500 direct jobs could support the equivalent of approximately 250 addtional jobs across the region leading to a total of 750 jobs throughout the region supported by our new Campus of Care.
This includes employment supported through supply chains, service industries, and household spending by healthcare workers and their families.

Additional economic modelling frameworks used by planners and municipalities similarly recognize employment multipliers as a standard method for estimating broader regional impact.

Generating Significant Local Economic Activity

Employment at the scale we ancitcapate will represent roughly $50+ million in annual economic activity flowing into the region through household spending, local purchasing, and community services.
This includes spending on housing, groceries, retail, childcare, transportation, recreation, and professional services, helping support local businesses and municipal services.
Economic impact modelling studies consistently show hospitals generate broader economic benefits through workforce spending and operational purchasing.

Construction Will Drive Near-Term Economic Growth
Before opening, the redevelopment project will also generate meaningful economic benefits during the planning and construction phases.
A project of this scale requires skilled trades, engineers, project managers, suppliers, and specialized consultants. This activity supports local accommodation providers, restaurants, fuel services, building suppliers, transportation providers, and other businesses connected to major infrastructure development.
Large public infrastructure projects are widely recognized for generating short-term employment growth and increased regional economic activity during construction.

Strengthening Long-Term Community Prosperity

Modern healthcare infrastructure plays a critical role in shaping how communities grow.
A new Hospital and Long-Term Care Home can help:
- attract healthcare professionals and skilled workers
- support population growth and housing development
- encourage business investment
- strengthen municipal tax bases
- improve quality of life for residents
Reliable access to local healthcare is often a key factor for families, retirees, and employers when deciding where to live, work, or invest.
Investing in the Future
This redevelopment project represents more than the replacement of aging infrastructure. It is a long-term investment in employment, economic resilience, and community wellbeing.
By supporting hundreds of jobs, generating tens of millions of dollars in annual economic activity, and stimulating growth during construction and beyond, the new healthcare campus will help build a stronger economic future for the region.
