Wendy Cross has been a part of Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) since 2016, when she played a key role in establishing the hospital’s Sleep Clinic alongside Dr. Stephen Glazer. Three years later, in 2019, she joined the hospital on a permanent basis, becoming an integral part of the Respiratory Therapy department. Now serving as the Charge Respiratory Therapist, Wendy is at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge respiratory treatments at CMH, constantly pushing the boundaries of rural care to ensure patients receive the best possible treatment.
Wendy’s path to healthcare began long before she walked through the doors of CMH. At just 16 years old, she found her passion for helping others as a lifeguard and CPR/First Aid instructor. This early work naturally evolved into a career in Respiratory Therapy, where her skills—and heart—were in high demand. She hasn’t looked back since.
What truly sets Wendy apart is not just her expertise and dedication, but the resilience and leadership she has shown in guiding her department through difficult times. When staffing shortages hit, it’s Wendy who holds the Respiratory Therapy department together, ensuring patients continue to receive the care they need.
For Wendy, CMH is more than just a workplace; it’s a second family. "The staff truly feel like my family," she shares. "I’ve laughed and cried with my CMH family. Every patient success is a team effort, and every member is treated equally and with respect." This sense of camaraderie fuels her daily, making every challenge a shared victory.
Among her proudest achievements at CMH, Wendy highlights the modernization of respiratory care. She spearheaded the introduction of Airvo and Aerogen devices—advanced tools that help patients with respiratory difficulties recover more effectively. These innovations, now a core part of the hospital’s respiratory treatment options, have significantly enhanced patient outcomes.
Outside the hospital, Wendy’s life is as vibrant as her professional one. She’s an avid portrait photographer, capturing special moments in her photography business. During the winter, she and her husband love to escape to sun-soaked beach destinations. And when she’s not behind the camera or basking in the sun, she’s often found perfecting her margarita recipes—a passion she loves to share with family and friends.
Wendy’s journey is one of passion, resilience, and dedication—qualities that make her not only a leader at CMH, but a beloved member of the community.
