Brittany joined CMH in May 2016, but her journey into healthcare started long before that. Like many who choose to pursue a healthcare career, Brittany grew up with it. Both her parents worked in healthcare, exposing her to the myriad of career possibilities that existed for her to pursue. Fueled by a deep-seated passion for helping others and a fascination with the fusion of technology and patient care, she ultimately chose to pursue a career as a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT).
Throughout her time at CMH, Brittany's dedication and commitment to excellence have shone brightly. As an MRT, she works in the X-ray clinic, performs CT Scans, and provides Bone Mineral Density (BMD) services. But her impact extends beyond her technical skills; it's in the genuine care and compassion she brings to her work each and every day that makes her such an integral part of the team.
Strong female mentorship has played a significant role in Brittany's journey. Surrounded by a department predominantly comprised of women, Brittany has had the privilege of learning from experienced professionals, shaping her into the skilled technologist she is today. Brittany also speaks to the influence her mother has had in her life. It was seeing the dedication her mother had to her own healthcare career that instilled within Brittany a deep sense of pride and purpose in her chosen path. “Watching my mother work in healthcare all my life, and seeing her love and passion for her job has greatly impacted my career in healthcare,” notes Brittany. “While she never pushed me to go into healthcare, seeing her proud of her career, and the difference she makes, is a big reason why I chose this career.”
What sets CMH apart for Brittany is the sense of community and fellowship among colleagues. Forming strong friendships with coworkers has not only enriched Brittany's personal life but also fosters a supportive and collaborative work environment. “When you go for a paddle with your work friends, play squash together, go bowling, join a book-club, you strengthen your working relationship too. It’s a great thing to work with your friends.”
Reflecting on her accomplishments, Brittany takes pride in her professional growth and the advancements she's been a part of during her time at CMH. Beyond the workplace, Brittany finds joy in travelling and exploring new destinations, indulging in baking adventures, and embracing outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and cross-country skiing.
