In the bustling halls of Campbellford Memorial Hospital, amidst the dedicated staff ensuring top-notch care, you'll find Shannon Greenwood, a cornerstone of the housekeeping team since 2003. Shannon's journey in healthcare began as a Personal Support Worker (PSW), influenced by her love for interacting with, and caring for, elderly individuals.
Eventually Shannon’s journey led her to CMH. Initially joining as a housekeeper, she briefly ventured into the kitchen before returning. It was here, amid the hum of hospital life, that Shannon found her niche.
Throughout her tenure, Shannon has always taken pride in the inclusive environment that CMH staff have created. Regardless of title or department, everyone at CMH is valued, contributing to a familial atmosphere that Shannon treasures. It's this sense of unity that makes CMH more than just a workplace— “Being such a small community hospital it is more like family then work, it is easier to go in everyday when you enjoy your time with your co-workers,” noted Shannon.
Mentorship has played a pivotal role in Shannon's journey, particularly from the women she's had the privilege to work alongside. Learning from their experiences, guidance, and support has been instrumental in shaping Shannon's career trajectory. As a woman in healthcare, she understands the significance of lifting each other up, creating pathways for growth and advancement.
When asked about her greatest accomplishment at CMH, Shannon jokes, “I’m still here.” Despite her modesty, Shannon's contributions to CMH are undeniable. In addition to keeping the hospital clean, playing an integral role in infection prevention and control, the pride and dedication she has for her work are second to none. It's this commitment that makes her an indispensable part of the CMH team.
Beyond the confines of the hospital, Shannon finds solace and joy in spending time with her children. Whether camping under the stars or embarking on adventures around the Province, she embraces life with a balanced perspective, cherishing both her professional and personal pursuits.
